Miranda Heath

Miranda Heath

Miranda is the Technical Director at Barker Sleep Institute and has been working for Dr. Barker since she opened her private practice in January of 2007. Miranda graduated at the top of her class at Roane State through the polysomnography program and has been a registered sleep technician for many years. As technical director at BSI, Miranda reviews every sleep study, oversees all the technical staff, runs the MLST day studies and polysomnograms, and is a key player in managing and implementing BSI’s accredited program guidelines. When she isn’t working, Miranda is spending time with her husband and two dogs and cooking for her family and friends.

Kristy Monroe

Kristy Monroe

Kristy is the CPAP Manager at Barker Sleep Institute. Kristy has worked with Dr. Barker for over four years after having attended polysomnography school. As CPAP manager, Kristy is responsible for setting up sleep apnea patients with their CPAP machines and supplies and oversees the CPAP help line. She personally orders all the CPAP equipment and fits each patient with the masks and other facial devices. Kristy’s job is to maximize the patients’ comfort levels while educating them about their new CPAP material. Kristy has been married to her high school sweetheart for 11 years and has a son, who, at age eight, has already won several national motocross championships. The family enjoys motocross events as well as spending time at the lake with their two dogs.

Stephanie Moore

Stephanie Moore

Stephanie is the Billing Manager at Barker Sleep Institute and has been working for Dr. Barker since April of 2008. Stephanie attended Pellissippi State for Accounting. She has been in the medical field for over 14 years and has worked in health related fields such as Psychology, Home Health and Oncology/Hematology. Stephanie’s job is to ensure overall billing efficiency for both patients and insurance companies. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her two nephews, Justin and Mack and her niece Hannah. They are the love of her life.

Tera MorellTera Morell

Tera is in charge of Patient Care at Barker Sleep Institute. She has worked in the medical field for 12 years, and worked for Dr. Barker since October of 2008. Tera attains the necessary information for each patient preceding the consultation with Dr. Barker. She is also responsible for maintaining and updating sleep medication information for patients. Tera loves her job, as she knows she is able to make a positive difference in patients’ lives simply by listening and lending a caring hand. Tera recently married her childhood sweetheart, and has two children, Dalton, 14, and Alyssa, 9, who truly keep her on her toes.

Mary Linda SchwarzbartMary Linda Schwarzbart

Mary Linda works as a Business Consultant for Barker Sleep Institute, providing quality support services that allow Dr. Barker to maximize her available resources and focus on the mission and vision of her practice. Mary Linda’s experience, organizational, collaboration and research skills really shine in the wide range of projects she tackles for the office. It is clear she really enjoys the diversity of her activities and responsibilities. Mary Linda is an active volunteer in the community and is involved in many organizations. She is on the Board of the Knoxville Jewish Alliance, editor of the Leadership Knoxville Leadership Link newsletter, on the Board of the Knoxville Jewish Community Family of Funds, and a member of the East Tennessee Civil Rights Working Group, among several others. Mary Linda loves to learn, and as such, enjoys reading and studying whenever she gets the chance. She and her husband Arnold have been happily married for almost 46 years, supporting each other with each new endeavor.

Leigh Barker SchlactusLeigh Barker Schlactus

Leigh is an office assistant at the Barker Sleep Institute, helping both with patient care and to keep the office running smoothly. Leigh is currently an undergraduate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, with a major in English and a concentration in Literature. After two years as a student at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Leigh appreciates that her transfer to UT gave her the privilege of moving back to Knoxville. At Barker Sleep, Leigh is learning the various facets of the business. She learned to run sleep studies and previously worked at night as a polysomnographic sleep technician. Leigh plans to attend medical school and to specialize in sleep medicine. In her free time, Leigh enjoys cooking and baking for her friends and family.
